1) Project Overview
Friendly-Neighbourhood Pets

Dormeos, a premium pet food brand catering to both cats and dogs. It has set out to redefine its packaging to better communicate its quality, nutritional benefits, and brand identity. Understanding that pet owners make purchasing decisions based on trust, ingredient transparency, and aesthetics, Dormeos partnered with Confetti to create a visually compelling packaging for its pet food. The goal was to stand out on the shelves, speak ‘premium quality’, and build a strong connection with pet owners.

The project aimed to not only refresh Dormeos’ packaging but also align it with contemporary consumer expectations. With increasing competition in the pet food industry, it was crucial that the design not only attracted attention but also instilled confidence in buyers. Confetti’s approach focused on creating a timeless, distinctive look that resonated with pet lovers while ensuring clarity in product messaging.

What’s Our Meow Point?

Creating a unique packaging design for Dormeos came with several challenges. The pet food industry is highly competitive, with multiple brands vying for attention. Dormeos needed packaging that would differentiate itself while still maintaining a sense of trust and familiarity. Additionally, the packaging needed to effectively communicate essential product details, including nutritional benefits, pet suitability, and key selling points, in a way that was visually appealing and easy to understand.

Another challenge was ensuring a cohesive brand identity across multiple product lines. Dormeos offers different variations of pet food, including kitten, adult cat, and dog food, each requiring a distinctive yet unified look. Furthermore, pet owners today are more conscious of ingredients and sourcing, so the packaging had to highlight the brand’s commitment to high-quality, healthy pet food. Balancing these elements while ensuring visual appeal and strong branding required a strategic and thoughtful approach.

Finding The Pawsome Way Out

Confetti approached the Dormeos packaging redesign with a combination of strategy, creativity, and consumer psychology. Extensive market research and competitor analysis were conducted to understand industry trends and consumer expectations. Through collaborative ideation and design exploration, Confetti developed a packaging system that seamlessly blended aesthetic appeal with functional clarity, ensuring that Dormeos’ products would stand out while still conveying a sense of reliability and trust.

Beyond just redesigning the packaging, Confetti focused on storytelling and emotional engagement. The goal was to craft packaging that not only captured attention on the shelves but also connected with pet owners on a deeper level. Every design decision—from color schemes to typography—was made to reflect Dormeos’ values of premium quality, transparency, and pet well-being. The result was a packaging design that resonated with pet lovers while reinforcing brand loyalty.

04) Brand Strategy
Nutrition Trust and Simplicity

The brand strategy for Dormeos was built around the principles of premium nutrition, trust, and simplicity. The goal was to position Dormeos as a high-quality pet food brand that pet owners could rely on without confusion. To achieve this, the product range was carefully segmented by pet type and age group, ensuring a structured and intuitive purchasing experience. The strategy also emphasized the use of clean design elements that clearly conveyed key product benefits without overwhelming the customer with excessive information.

This approach extended beyond packaging and into Dormeos’ overall brand messaging. A strong, recognizable identity was developed to foster long-term trust and loyalty. Whether a customer was shopping for a small kitten or a large breed dog, the consistency in branding reassured them of the product’s quality and reliability. Through clear positioning and thoughtful messaging, Dormeos was able to distinguish itself as a go-to choice for discerning pet owners.

05) Verbal Identity
Meowful and Pawsome

Dormeos’ verbal identity was made to be clear, reassuring, and informative. The packaging copy focused on delivering key information in a simple yet engaging manner. Product labels clearly stated whether the food was for kittens, adult cats, or dogs, while concise benefit statements highlighted essential nutritional advantages. The use of direct, transparent language helped pet owners make quick and informed decisions without second-guessing their choices.

In addition to clarity, Dormeos’ messaging was designed to build trust and emotional connection. Phrases like "Made in Germany," "Vet-Recommended," and "Nutritionally Balanced" were strategically placed to reinforce quality and credibility. A warm and friendly tone was maintained throughout to ensure that Dormeos felt like a trusted companion in pet care. By balancing factual precision with an inviting personality, Confetti helped create a verbal identity that resonated with both new and loyal customers.

06) Visual Identity
Bright Like Your Doggo’s Eyes

Confetti crafted a sleek and modern visual identity that emphasized Dormeos’ premium positioning while maintaining an approachable feel. High-quality imagery of cats and dogs was incorporated to create an immediate emotional connection with pet owners. A minimalist aesthetic with clean layouts and structured typography ensured that product information was easily readable, even at a glance. The packaging also featured a color-coded system, distinguishing different product categories such as kitten, long-haired cat, and dog food, allowing for effortless navigation within the brand’s offerings.

Additionally, custom iconography and certification seals were integrated to highlight key product benefits, such as high protein content, grain-free formulas, and essential nutrients. The choice of typography was carefully curated to enhance readability and establish a sense of sophistication. A combination of bold fonts for primary messaging and softer, approachable typefaces for additional details created a balanced look. The result was a packaging design that not only stood out in retail spaces but also reinforced Dormeos’ commitment to quality and pet well-being.
